Congress is now taking action to better alert beach-goers about shark attacks. It follows a string of sightings over the holiday weekend.

I was out tidepooling in Okinawa, Japan, and I came across this shell. As you can see, it's one of my favourite shells to collect because the pattern is so stunning.

Experts believe that the injuries sustained by the swimmer were likely caused by a juvenile sand tiger shark while she was wading in the surf.

In a tragic event, newlywed Jake Rosencranz, 29, was fatally struck by lightning while in shallow water at New Smyrna Beach, raising concerns about unexpected lightning dangers.

The lion's mane jellyfish washed up at Willard Beach in South Portland, capturing the attention of beachgoers. City officials warned visitors on Facebook not to touch jellyfish.

"Last year's Fourth of July measures made a tremendous difference," said Dennis Police Chief John Brady. "Families were able to relax and enjoy the holiday without disruption..."

William experienced devastating burns after stepping on hot sand that had concealed the remnants of a disposable barbecue, prompting extensive medical treatment and ongoing support.

"I learned it's unsafe to go swimming at many of the beaches along the Sea of Cortez due to strong currents, steep drop-offs, and dangerous riptides."

The encounter occurred on April 15 at the Wedge, a popular surf spot, where an aggressive sea lion chased surfers due to suspected domoic acid poisoning.

Families flocked to the beach this weekend as temperatures rose, leading to warnings from police about the dangers of unsupervised children near water.

'It is an amazing difference,' said Suzanne Grout Thomas, the town's director of community services, speaking of the service, which has only been up and running for a few days. 'Where there was none, there is a very strong signal.'

Saturday's forecast indicates mostly cloudy skies with light showers, while humidity remains high and temperatures will peak in the lower 80s, leading to uncomfortable conditions.
