Alphonso Davies has been named in Canada's preliminary squad that will report to the training camp in Charlotte, North Carolina, starting on May 25. Given injuries, players will report to camp in line with communications with their respective clubs and medical staffs, with player fitness as the priority, whether reporting in Charlotte or thereafter ahead of the competition period beginning 7 June. The final squad will be announced on May 29.

Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies has been called up for co-hosts Canada's final training camp before the World Cup, despite injury concerns. Davies, 25, suffered a hamstring injury in Bayern's Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris St-Germain on 6 May, with the German club saying at the time he was expected to be out of action "for several weeks". He only made 13 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern during a campaign heavily disrupted by injuries.

As it stands, Urbig likely will not be out that long, but it is a situation worth monitoring given that Manuel Neuer is suspended for that match.
