Davies initially played on before recognizing the problem and later underwent an MRI. He missed eight and a half months before returning in the 88th minute of a Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon. On return he sprinted, won the ball back and drew applause, showcasing his top speed and strengthened mental resilience.
