A significant number of NFL fans fell for a fake report about New York Giants rookie Abdul Carter from a known parody account. Ahead of Monday night's game between the Giants and the New England Patriots, self-proclaimed insider Wesley Steinberg claimedthat Carter would be benched for the Giants' first defensive drive because he was caught watching porn in a team meeting when his headphones disconnected.

Abdul Carter has been benched more times for violating team rules than he has sacks in his rookie season with the New York Giants. That's not exactly how this whole thing was supposed to go when Big Blue drafted the feared Penn State edge rusher No. 3 overall back in April. But there was Carter, rooted to the sideline for the first quarter of the Giants' embarrassing 33-15 Monday-night loss to the New England Patriots.

Throughout much of the months leading to the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots were connected to two of the most highly-touted players of the incoming class: left tackle Will Campbell and pass rusher Abdul Carter. They needed upgrades at both positions, so fans quickly took an interest in both players. But the excitement of a game-wrecking pass rusher led many to desire Carter to be the team's No. 4 overall pick, if he were to somehow fall into their lap.

You see the explosiveness obviously rushing the passer, Bowen said on Thursday ahead of the Giants' season opener on Sunday against the Commanders down in Landover. He's a really good athlete, too. He can bend, the flexibility, everything that comes with it, which we've all seen from Penn State. Drafted No. 3 overall, Carter was considered by many to be the best overall athlete available and one who can turn a game on its head in an instant.
