5 minutes of exercise can help lower your blood pressure, new research suggests
Briefly

Swapping out five minutes of sedentary time per day with physical activity like biking or taking the stairs led to a decrease in blood pressure. The findings suggest small changes can significantly impact health.
On average, study participants spent 10 hours a day sitting or being sedentary and about 16 minutes a day doing exercises like cycling. The study highlights the need to incorporate more active routines into daily life.
Jo Blodgett, the first author of the study, mentioned that while even walking offers benefits, higher-intensity exercise creates a greater effect on blood pressure and cardiovascular health.
Adding more activity helped to lower blood pressure even more: 10 to 20 minutes of exercise daily could reduce heart disease risk by about 10%, according to the researchers' estimates.
