Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced plans for an upgraded search experience to help users better navigate the platform and address complex queries. This will incorporate Reddit Answers, which curates user responses, enhancing the search functionality. Despite recent disappointing financial results attributed to Google's algorithm changes, Reddit's daily unique users rose to 101.7 million. The company is also focusing on AI integration for features like translation and search recommendations while building a dedicated search engineering team to boost user engagement and revenue.
Huffman hinted at making Reddit search a part of the platform onboarding process to drive growth, retention, and ultimately revenue.
Reddit's CFO, Drew Vollero, added during the call that Reddit is recruiting engineers to build a "small search team" focused on these capabilities.
