Pensioner found dead near main road with multiple stab wounds
Briefly

Richard Parram, 82, was found dead at the Green Man Interchange, and while police suggested self-inflicted injuries, a pathologist couldn't definitively confirm this as the cause of death. During an inquest, Coroner Graeme Irvine noted ambiguity in the cause, but established that penetrating injuries might have contributed. The inquest will investigate Mr Parram's mental health history, including his GP records and any treatment received. His family is recognized as interested persons, enabling them to question evidence in hopes of preventing similar future deaths.
However, the pathologist has confirmed that there were penetrating injuries on the deceased which are likely to have been a contributing factor in death.
Inquests are held in public, in the public interest, to investigate unnatural or unexplained deaths and whether future similar deaths might be preventable.
The coroner declared Mr Parram's family interested persons, a legal status entitling them to scrutinise evidence ahead of the inquest and question any witnesses called to court.
Mr Irvine also ordered disclosure of Mr Parram's GP records and details of any mental health treatment he had received.
