Meta's Generative AI Push Could Bring Big 'Windfall' For WhatsApp, Analyst Says
Briefly

William Blair analyst Ralph Schackart stated, "We believe GenAI will allow WhatsApp (and eventually Instagram and Facebook) chatbots to evolve into 'intelligent conversations' or more personal conversations with businesses." He emphasizes that chatbots will transition from customer service agents to vital e-commerce sales assistants.
With an estimated 2.7 billion users on WhatsApp, Schackart estimates that generative AI chatbots could deliver incremental revenue of $16.6 billion in 2025 and up to $45 billion by 2030. This underscores the significant financial potential for Meta.
Schackart noted, "There is 'runway' to increase pricing as customers get more used to interacting with chatbots," referring to the current 2.5 cents per conversation charge that could see adjustments with growing user familiarity.
Meta's strategic shift towards business AI services, led by Clara Shih, reveals a focused intention to enhance monetization through platforms like WhatsApp, poised to boost overall revenue significantly.
