Leon Lamont Hillman, 47, has been arrested for the first-degree murder of Sidney Report Myers, a 65-year-old man, following an April grocery store shooting in Homestead. After a thorough month-long investigation, which included analyzing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, Miami-Dade deputies located and apprehended Hillman near Biscayne Park. On April 12, Hillman allegedly confronted Myers outside El Charrito Supermarket, shooting him multiple times. Myers attempted to escape on his bicycle but ultimately collapsed and was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a medical center. Hillman is currently held in county custody.
A month after a seemingly random shooting left a 65-year-old man dead outside a Homestead grocery store, the alleged culprit was arrested on Thursday.
