A free soccer demo day occurs March 7th at Rinconada Park with age-specific sessions for children ages 1-5 years old.
My son is 7, and he loves soccer. Since he was 3, he's played on local rec teams that have weekly practice and Saturday games at a nearby park. These are not really competitive leagues, more for kids to have fun. This league is really good about not pushing the kids too hard. Last year, three different coaches approached us after games to encourage us to have our son try out for a travel soccer team.
Montoya had previously alluded to joining Bay FC in a youth-facing role after the club announced he was stepping down as head coach late last season. He told this news organization that Bay FC offered him the role of director of coaching for the club's future youth academy, but he declined, citing a desire to spend more time coaching and watching his son Michael, a junior soccer player at Mountain View High.
When Santa Clara hosted the Super Bowl in 2016, the Youth Soccer Park next to Levi's Stadium became the center of a fierce legal battle between soccer parents, the city and the league. At the time, the NFL intended to transform the soccer fields into a media village as part of a longtime agreement with Santa Clara that allowed them to utilize city-owned facilities around the stadium. But just days before the league was set to begin preparations for the Big Game, the Santa Clara Youth Soccer League took the matter to court, unsuccessfully seeking to block the takeover.
The future of the game will be on full display, and it's more than just matches -- we've got an incredible few days planned with lots of other exciting activities. This is about the next generation. Hope you like it! This is the Messi Cup.
