The number of inquiries to the office, which serves city employees and residents interacting with municipal services, has increased by 89 per cent since 2019 and went up 32 per cent in 2024, according to the report before the general government committee Thursday. The vast majority of inquiries relate to complaints and accommodation.
A former Toronto radio show co-host continued her testimony in a human rights tribunal hearing on Tuesday, alleging executives and management at Corus Entertainment failed to take action when concerns with "bullying" and "disrespect" were raised. Jennifer Valentyne, former co-host of Q107's Derringer in the Morning, said executives were receptive to her complaints when issues were raised in 2018 and promised to make changes.
Bullying and harassment towards women is still rife within the creative industries, according to a survey that found seven out of 10 of its female workforce had experienced toxic behaviour. The culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, said the industry needed to take robust action following the deeply concerning findings. The survey, undertaken by the Bectu union, found that 69% of women in the sector said they had directly experienced workplace bullying and harassment in the past 12 months.
