Which? claimed that Qualcomm abused its market position as a dominant producer of processors and radio chips for smartphones, and that even Samsung and Apple felt they had no alternative but to pay inflated prices for some parts and then passed on the costs to buyers. UK consumers, the group argued, therefore paid more for certain smartphones between October 2015 and January 2024.
While the Realme 16 Pro+ scored pretty low, a good number of people are willing to have a second look after the price falls to more reasonable levels. As we noted in our review, the Pro+ is a solid phone, but it costs more than the models that it is competing against - many feel that those other phones are better value for their money.
Co-CEO of Samsung's mobile division, TM Roh, spoke to the media at the CES 2026 trade show, saying "We're facing one of the harshest pricing situations in memory" and warning that "smartphone price adjustments may be necessary". Samsung is working with other companies in its supply chain to try and deal with the situation in the long term as all kinds of electronics are affected by this - notably smartphones, but also TVs and other smart devices.
The OnePlus 15 is on sale in most global markets. Compared to the OnePlus 13 launch prices, the US price is the same. In Europe, the 12/256GB model is €50 cheaper, but the 16/512GB variant is now €50 more. In India, both models are ₹3,000 more.
