What do you think of when you think of a woman in pain? There are no tidy universalisms here, but for many of us, even most of us, pain is private and domestic. You could think of a mother shouldering burdens alone while her husband is at work. The father in the waiting room while the mother screams with strangers. A woman going to the doctor about an ache, only for him to tell her to lose weight and deny the problem is even happening.

Set in the fictional village of Ebisugaoka in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows Hinako, a high school-aged girl who is navigating her transition from girlhood to womanhood, defying gender roles and resisting an arranged marriage. As she grapples subconsciously with these struggles, it is revealed in both subtle and overt ways how Hinako has endured psychological and physical abuse in a patriarchal society.

Kojima warned that relying too heavily on remaking old franchises is creatively risky and that, in the future, AI will likely be used to create these kinds of projects. Kojima has already said he doesn't see AI as a threat, though. Instead, he believes it can be a helpful tool for handling repetitive tasks, allowing human creators to focus on more imaginative work. Kojima explained that he sees AI as a "friend" in development, one that improves efficiency without replacing human leadership in creativity.

Like the original game, Silent Hill f sends players to an "abandoned" school during its protagonist's attempts to escape the horrors of the fog. And similar to the original, the halls and classrooms of the school are adorned with everything you'd expect to find in an institution of learning: posters, calendars, lockers, bookshelves, cubbies; you name it, it's there. That includes a bit of simple sheet music that many are likely to overlook as just part of the set dressing.

The beta started on October 2, and I got access and played a few matches. Yup, it's another Call of Duty, all right. It also plays a lot like Black Ops 6, which isn't a bad thing at all as that was a return to form for the franchise's fast-paced multiplayer. This time around, though, it does feel like I'm playing a Black Ops 6 expansion and not a new game.

If you pre-order any version of Silent Hill f, you'll obtain the following: White Sailor School Uniform - This costume can be worn by the main character. Omamori [Peony] - This accessory grants slight health restoration when picking up food items while equipped. Item Box - This includes two restorative items and one offering item, which is traded for a special currency known as Faith.

Silent Hill f won't officially launch until tomorrow, September 25, but PC users with early access have already released a handful of mods for the game. One of the mods even removes the franchise's signature fog from the Japanese town of Ebisugaoka. And suddenly it's a much nicer day for high school student Hinako Shimizu, at least until something tries to kill her.

The game has its official global release on September 25, but people who preorder the digital deluxe edition ($80) can start playing two days earlier on September 23.
