For me, this ruck is about honoring SSG Shaw and preserving the memory of a true hero who gave everything for his team. Moments like that stay with you forever. The courage, the sacrifice, and the reality that some men willingly stand their ground to protect their brothers, even knowing the price may be their life.
This is the hard as a family member who's gone through this, to see this and witness this time now. Because I know the real implications. I know how these family members are feeling.

Decisions made now have a lasting impact on the family for years to come, and what could have been decisions that were easily reversible before marriage are much more difficult after marriage. Staying employed becomes much more important, future planning becomes more about how we can afford to get pregnant soon than how we can afford to take a vacation or have a nice dinner, and lots of compromises must be made for the greater good.
Think about the last time you had to make a difficult choice, or had to wait to figure out what to do. For some people, any decision-making process is stressful, can elevate blood pressure, and may cause distress. How do you feel in spaces of uncertainty? Do you tolerate ambiguity well, or do you find the state of unknowing insufferable?
