A former NFL defensive end who appeared in 33 games with the Rams, Ah You turned to coaching following the end of his playing career. Apart from a brief stint in the XFL, Ah You has only coached at the collegiate level. He started as a special teams quality control coach at his alma mater, Oklahoma, before heading to a defensive line coaching job at Vanderbilt.
The move reunites Angelichio with new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy, who worked with him in Green Bay from 2016 to 2018, when Angelichio served as the tight ends coach. McCarthy also interviewed former Packers quarterback Scott Tolzien, now the New Orleans Saints quarterback coach, for the Steelers' offensive coordinator job.
With the Washington Commanders appointing Daronte Jones to the defensive coordinator role, more changes are expected. The new hire isn't going to keep the same staff below him, which is enough to put everyone on edge before their futures are confirmed one way or another. One assistant coach wasn't willing to wait around. And his quiet departure from the organization hints at something bigger afoot.
"I'm not going to say, 'Well, we're going to take a couple of years to figure this out and then we'll try to compete,'" Rooney said. "I think you try every year. Some years you have the horses to really get there. Some years you don't, but you try every year, in my view."
It was all set up for the Steelers on Sunday. They faced a Cleveland Browns team that was 3-12 coming into the game and quarterbacked by Shedeur Sanders, who doesn't currently seem capable of throwing for more than 200 yards. Without DK Metcalf, suspended after hitting a fan last week in Detroit, the Steelers seemed resigned to scoring fewer than 20 points, which they did, losing 13-6.
The Patriots' second-round pick in 2020 had become a prominent part of their defense over the five years he was part of the team, which earned him an extension last offseason. But a rough 2024 season, plagued by a misdiagnosed injury, hurt his chances of remaining on the roster under Vrabel, and he wasn't able to prove his value to the team with the opportunities he was given.
Screenshot NFL legend Terry Bradshaw stunned Fox Sports viewers Sunday when he admitted he's never actually met Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin. Bradshaw, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, spent his entire 14-year career with the Steelers. He won three MVP awards and four Super Bowls, cementing himself as one of the best players the franchise has ever had.
Dugger, a 2020 New England Patriots second-round pick acquired by the Steelers prior to the trade deadline, missed Thursday and Friday's practices with the hand injury. Dugger has started all five games alongside Jalen Ramsey since joining the Steelers prior to their Nov. 2 win over the Indianapolis Colts, and he has recorded one interception, four passes defensed and 23 combined tackles.
Veteran cornerback Darius Slay, who was claimed by the Bills on waivers Wednesday, is unsure if he wants to continue playing and will not be reporting to Buffalo. "Slay is honored that a first-class organization like the Bills claimed him, but he is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing," Slay's agent, Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday.
