The Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission pulled Trooper Michael Gagnon's law enforcement certification Tuesday, a week after he was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery and assault and battery on a child causing injury. The POST Commission suspension order directs Gagnon to surrender his agency-issued credentials and equipment, including his uniform, badge, firearm, cruiser, and Taser. A State Police spokesperson previously said Gagnon has been relieved of duty and suspended without pay.
A Massachusetts State Police trooper arrested last week is facing charges related to a domestic assault on a child, local police said. State Trooper Michael Gagnon, of Plympton, was arrested Nov. 25 and was arraigned on charges of domestic assault and battery and aggravated assault on a child under 14 years of age, according to Plympton police. In a statement, a spokesperson for the State Police said Gagnon was relieved of duty and suspended without pay.
Carlos Chavez Martinez, 28, of Providence, died from his injuries after the white Audi sedan he was driving collided with a parked tractor-trailer around 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 Southbound near mile marker 9.2. Massachusetts State Police received several 911 calls reporting the crash. Investigators said the Audi had exited the roadway to the right and collided with the tractor-trailer, which was parked in a rest area.
