Perry Mendes, a 64-year-old former Massachusetts State Police trooper, recently pleaded guilty to conspiracy and falsifying records related to commercial driver's license (CDL) testing. Between May 2019 and January 2023, he, along with other CDL unit members, gave passing scores to at least 17 applicants without regard for actual performance. His plea comes shortly after another former trooper, Calvin Butner, also entered a guilty plea in connection to the same conspiracy, which has affected the integrity of the CDL testing process.
