"I don't know if I should say this or not, but I know that the internet had this big thing that went on about... that this is really, like, a lesbian love story," she said. "I'm just wondering why Disney didn't wanna follow up with the number two, 'cause 100%, it seems like it would've gone in a great direction for the sequel."
But for the 38-year-old Duff's first live performance in 18 years, she's met with a sold-out crowd screaming back every word of her music like they are all universally adored hits. Duff seems overwhelmed by the rapturous reception. Fans have come from Brazil, Saudi Arabia and all over Europe, and they are often so loud you can't hear the woman on stage.
"Roommates," which Duff co-wrote with her husband Matthew Koma and Brian Phillips, tells the story of a relationship that becomes stagnant and loses its spark. Even when she's clear about her desires, reminiscing about "givingyou head" at the dive bar and waking up his old roommates, he gives nothing in return, mourning how they've now become roommates. "Want the highlights, 10 out of 10, butterflies from holding your hand," she sings in the chorus.
Now that Hilary Duff is back in the music world, she's showing how "Mature" she's become - with some help from her wardrobe. On Nov. 6, the actor officially returned to music after a decade-long wait with her new single "Mature" and a music video, where she wore an array of sequined yet spicy looks that perfectly captured her comeback while showing how far she's come.
"She's me, I'm her in a different font," she begins. "Just a few years younger, a new haircut/ Very Leo of you with your Scorpio touch." "She looks like she could be your daughter, like me before I got smarter," she belts. "When I was flattered to hear you say, 'You're so mature for your age, babe.'"
"We were best friends from 12, 13 years old until then," he told " Page Six" on October 29, following up on his podcast appearance. It began when Muniz guest-starred on Duff's Disney Channel showin 2002. "I was on the set of Lizzie McGuire, and I was in Hilary's dressing room and her mom was there," he said on the podcast. Duff's mom asked what Muniz was working on that summer.
