Hilary Duff Is Releasing Her First Album in a Decade
""I am often asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry," she said in a statement on November 21. "The album title is my way of answering that question. It's luck, but there's also a lot of weight in the '... or something. Many of the things I've been through along the way are held there, and I feel like ultimately that's what's shaped me.""
"Duff already released the album's first single, "Mature," on November 6. The song looks back at her early career, describing herself in the third person. "She looks / Like she could be your daughter," she says to herself / "Like me before I got smarter / When I was flattered to hear you say / 'You're so mature for your age, babe.'""
Hilary Duff returns to music with Luck ... or Something, her first album in ten years, scheduled for release February 20. She frames the title as an answer to how she remained grounded after growing up in the industry, calling it luck with added weight from lived experiences that shaped her. The lead single, "Mature," released November 6, looks back at her early career and features third-person self-description and lyrics about being called mature for her age. The album cover shows her sprawled on a blue-gray carpet in a brown sweater and sheer tights. Duff will perform on the Small Rooms, Big Nerves mini tour in January, with dates in London, Toronto, Brooklyn, and Ontario, all sold out.
