On July 2, 2024, her 40th birthday, New York congresswoman Elise Stefanik seemed to be on top of the word. She was in her fifth term in the House after becoming (at the time) the youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress. She had quickly arisen to the number four position in the House GOP leadership, serving as Donald Trump's instrument for purging Liz Cheney from the same position.

Elise Stefanik, the Republican representative from New York, has listed her Capitol Hill townhouse for sale, in advance of her potential campaign for New York governor. The listing price is $2.195 million, and the listing agents are Robert Hryniewicki, Adam Rackliffe, Christopher Leary, and Micah Smith of HRLS Partners at TTR Sotheby's International Realty. The townhouse, just northwest of Eastern Market, was designed and constructed by DC architect John Melby in 1927.
