"If Republicans can't deliver accountability and legislative fixes to arguably the biggest illegal corruption and government weaponization issue of all time, then what are we even doing,"
"is siding with Jamie Raskin against Trump Republicans."
"I don't exactly know why Elise won't just call me,"
Elise Stefanik relinquished her House Republican conference chair position after President Trump selected her as his UN ambassador, but the nomination was later withdrawn. Stefanik accuses Speaker Mike Johnson of delaying and ultimately killing the nomination to protect his narrow GOP House majority, which Johnson denies. Johnson assigned her a largely symbolic House GOP leadership role. Stefanik proposed a provision requiring the FBI to notify Congress when opening counterintelligence investigations into federal candidates and contends the Russia probe and Jack Smith's investigation of Trump are politically motivated. She now threatens to block the NDAA after House Judiciary Democrats stripped the provision. Johnson says the claims are false and the issue was not on his radar.
