Police sources say a Con Edison worker was electrocuted in East Flatbush Wednesday. Officers found the 47-year-old man just after 10:30 a.m. near Kings Highway and Avenue D. The FDNY says the man went into cardiac arrest and EMS performed CPR before taking him to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center. He was initially listed in critical condition but is now expected to recover, according to police.
The city Medial Exmainer is conducting an autopsy on little Adonnys Kendall to determine how he died in his family's home on Veronica Place near Beverly Road in East Flatbush. The body showed no obvious signs of trauma and blood and tissue tests could take weeks to complete, a law enforcement source said. Cops were called to the apartment about 7:30 p.m. Sunday after Kendall's mother called 911, concerned for her daughter's welfare. Kendall was home when police arrived but her baby was nowhere to be found.
BROOKLYN, NY - Dozens of homes in Southern Brooklyn are without power after overhead wires caught fire, Con Edison officials said. According to officials, overhead power wires caught fire on East 48th Street between Church Avenue and Linden Boulevard in East Flatbush just before 3 a.m. Wednesday. No one was injured in the fire, authorities said. On Wednesday morning, Con Edison officials reported that nearly 80 homes remain without power. Crews have been dispatched to the area and are working to restore service as quickly as possible.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause of a blaze that tore through a three-story private home in East Flatbush, damaging the first and second floors, officials said. The fire broke out at 611 East 57 St. on Thursday, Jan. 8. Crews from Engine Company 310 and Ladder Company 174 were the first to arrive and encountered heavy fire conditions inside the attached dwelling.
