Steph Curry heated up after halftime and the Golden State Warriors cruised to a 120-97 win over the Orlando Magic on Monday at Chase Center. Curry scored 18 of his 26 points in the second half as Golden State turned a single-point advantage at intermission into a commanding second win in a row, only the second time since mid-November that the Warriors have strung wins together.
With 10:45 remaining in the second quarter, Draymond Green blocked Suns guard Collin Gillespie on a drive and then began a back-and-forth dialogue with his opponent as the two ran down the court. After Steph Curry made a quick 3-pointer and was fouled with 10:39 left in the first half, Green whistled for a technical foul by an officiating crew led by Pat Fraher after he appeared to give Gillespie a forearm shove from behind as the two ran downcourt.
Green blocked Gillespie's shot with 10:45 left in the second quarter and the two exchanged words on the way up the court. Right as Stephen Curry made a transition 3 at the 10:39 mark, Green barreled into Gillespie, drawing the initial technical call from nearby official Pat Fraher. Upset at the whistle, Green turned his ire toward Fraher and mimicked the technical call.
The Warriors' defense is set to receive a huge boost Sunday against the Blazers as one of the league's top stoppers returns to the lineup. Draymond Green, 35, has missed the past three games with both a right foot sprain and for an excused personal reason, but made the trip up to Portland and was not listed on the NBA's afternoon injury report.
Green had a verbal altercation with a courtside fan during the second quarter of Sunday's game in New Orleans. In the postgame locker room, Green said that the man had called him a woman's name but declined to specify what name it was. In an interview with the Associated Press, the fan identified himself as Sam Green and said he continually referred to Draymond Green as Angel Reese, the WNBA star who became a household name at nearby LSU.
