After also going nine games unbeaten to start this season, the Blues have surpassed their own record of 33 games unbeaten, set between February 2019 and January 2021. That was not the only landmark hit this weekend, though, with Millie Bright also becoming the all-time appearance maker in the WSL. Here, using Opta data, we break down the six-time WSL champions' unprecedented streak.
Chelsea boss Sonia Bompastor has confirmed goalkeeper Hannah Hampton will be sidelined "for a few weeks" with a quad injury. England international Hampton picked up the injury in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal and she was left out of the Blues' squad for their 6-0 win at Austrian side St Polten on Tuesday. "We'll see if we can see her before the end of the year, but I'm not sure," Bompastor said on Friday.
Chelsea breezed past Austrian outfit St Polten to seal their second Women's Champions League victory of the campaign. Two goals from Catarina Macario, a finish from Wieke Kaptein, a double for Sam Kerr on her return to the starting lineup and an unfortunate Lisa Ebert own goal moved them up to second at the halfway stage of the league phase.
A contentious penalty gave them the lead after 31 minutes, won by Sjoeke Nüsken and converted by Sandy Baltimore, then Johanna Rytting Kaneryd nodded in a second - a marvellous looping header - before half-time. Alyssa Thompson made it three to get her first Chelsea goal on her home European debut for the club before Sam Kerr's header was turned in from virtually on the goal line by Erin Cuthbert to complete the rout.
