E-Tang, a Sichuan restaurant, and Limestone Wines, a neighboring wine shop, have formed a mutually beneficial relationship in Savannah. David Xin of E-Tang noted initial struggles due to unfamiliarity with Sichuan flavors but has witnessed an increase in adventurous patrons. With a new policy allowing diners to bring wine for a corkage fee, E-Tang enhances the dining experience by encouraging customers to pair complex dishes with wine. Various expert-recommended pairings are suggested to celebrate the unique culinary offerings during festivals like Lunar New Year.
The first few months were slow, not too many people in Savannah knew about Sichuan Chinese food. They would order General Tso chicken and beef and broccoli.
Today, Xin sees his clientele leaning a little more intrepidly... his regulars indulging in more ma ladishes.
Now, with Limestone Wines next door, E-Tang fans can enjoy those biting Sichuan flavors in a new way: by toting bottles of wine from the store.
