Toronto Fire Deputy Chief Jim Jessop confirmed that firefighters managed to rescue a woman and a young infant, but the infant unfortunately did not survive after being rushed to the hospital.
Despite the tragic loss of life, it was reported that up to four other occupants in the house managed to escape unharmed during the incident.
