Zillow Is Sticking With Remote Work, CloudHQ, Says CEO | Entrepreneur
Briefly

Zillow has maintained a remote-first policy since March 2021, resulting in higher job applicant numbers and increased employee engagement. CEO Jeremy Wacksman highlights the model's success in recruiting talent across the U.S., with four times as many applicants compared to pre-pandemic levels. Unlike some companies imposing strict return-to-office policies, Zillow encourages remote work, emphasizing flexibility that employees appreciate. The company's commitment to being a 'CloudHQ' has solidified its place in the digital media ranking, reflecting successful adaptation to changing workplace norms.
"We pivoted the company and committed to a cloud-headquartered or CloudHQ model almost 5 years ago now, and it's been fantastic for us," Wacksman stated.
"We now see four times the number of job applicants for every job we have versus what we did before the pandemic," Wacksman said.
Employee engagement scores were at all-time highs, with employees appreciating the greater flexibility they have in a remote workplace.
Zillow publicly decided to operate as a remote-first, 'CloudHQ' company in March 2021-and even published materials encouraging other companies to do the same.
