Employees at remote-friendly jobs are working from home nearly half the time
Briefly

Five years post-COVID-19, American workplaces have found a new balance, with employees working an average of 2.3 days from home weekly in remote-friendly jobs. This represents a significant shift from 2019, where remote work made up only 7% of workdays. Although some employers are pushing for a return to the office full-time, data shows that fully in-office positions are decreasing, indicating a trend towards hybrid work arrangements as employers and employees navigate preferences and requirements.
Five years later, many employers, including JPMorgan, TikTok, Amazon and the federal government, are rejecting remote work, demanding that employees return to the office full time.
According to Flex Index, which tracks the workplace strategies of over 10,000 U.S. companies quarterly, fully in-office work is on the decline.
