Leona Browne has opened The Wild Rover, a new Irish pub in Redwood City, featuring traditional favorites like beef stew and shepherd's pie with a local twist. Having sold her shares in The Patriot House, Browne sought to establish her own pub closer to home, inspired by her family's roots in Ireland. The pub’s name honors her father's favorite folk song, and it offers a mix of Irish dishes alongside local beers and innovative cocktails, reflecting both Browne's heritage and Redwood City's community spirit.
When Paul Davey, the former owner of Redwood City's City Pub, announced he wanted to retire, she got in touch. She bought the space May 15.
Browne decided to sell her shares in the family venture last year and start her own spot closer to home. Her Dad's favorite Irish folk song is the inspiration for the pub's name.
