Researchers found that advances in medical technology and genetic research haven't led to significant increases in overall life expectancy, indicating humanity may be nearing its longevity limit.
We have to recognize there's a limit and perhaps reassess assumptions about when people should retire and how much money they'll need to live out their lives, said S. Jay Olshansky.
'We are reaching a plateau in life expectancy,' said Mark Hayward, emphasizing that while future breakthroughs could occur, none are currently evident.
Life expectancy is vital as a health measure but is an imperfect snapshot, neglecting sudden events such as pandemics or innovations that could alter longevity.
