May 2025 Update From District 8 - San Francisco Bay Times
Briefly

Supervisor Rafael Mandelman highlights San Francisco's initiative to improve EV charging infrastructure to support the transition to electric vehicles. Concerned about the city lagging behind others, he requested a feasibility study and pilot program for curbside charging, which has commenced with two new chargers installed in Duboce Triangle. Mandelman will host a hearing to discuss the study, challenges, and future developments, stressing transportation's impact on greenhouse gas emissions and the need for accessible charging options for all EV owners.
In summer 2023, I asked the Department of the Environment and SFMTA to collaborate on an actionable feasibility study and scalable pilot program to get chargers on sidewalks.
I have long been concerned that San Francisco was falling behind other cities in allowing the installation of EV chargers on our streets to serve EV owners.
