Chrissy's Pizza has gained immense popularity since Chris Hansell first launched it from his apartment in Bushwick in December 2021. After transitioning from an 'off-brand home oven' to a residency with Superiority Burger, he finally announced it was time to open his very own shop. "It didn't feel like a residency, it felt like I was at home," he said, expressing gratitude for his experience. The community anticipation has built as he prepares to unveil his shop on October 24.
The menu at Chrissy's Pizza will focus solely on 16" full pies, featuring a classic cheese, pepperoni, and a vegan red pie among other rotating specials. Hansell emphasized, "We will have pizza for now and slowly add things as we can,' indicating that his focus will be on providing quality pizza before expanding the menu with additional offerings in the future.
When questioned about the connection with L'industrie, Hansell clarified, "Chrissy's is not an offshoot of L'industrie and is a completely different thing." He noted that some individuals associated with L'industrie are silent partners but play no role in advising on the food, reinforcing that all culinary decisions fall under his jurisdiction.
Setting up in a neighborhood already bustling with pizza joints, the arrival of Chrissy's Pizza has created quite a buzz. With several local pizzerias competing for attention, Hansell’s determination to carve a niche with his distinctive menu and hands-on approach to flavors suggests he’s ready to take up the challenge and attract loyal customers.
