Yahoo has laid off around 25% of its cybersecurity team, known as The Paranoids, losing 40 to 50 employees from a total of 200.
The elimination of The Paranoids' red team follows significant layoffs across Yahoo's technology unit that impact various teams and operations.
Yahoo spokesperson Brenden Lee stated that the layoffs reflect the security program's maturity and aim for strategic adjustments, moving to an outsourced security model.
A significant overall workforce reduction was noted last year, with Yahoo cutting more than 1,600 employees, about 20% of its total workforce.
