Roy Scott, founder of Healthy Hip Hop, changed his focus from violent and drug-related rap lyrics to creating positive hip hop after his son's reaction to his music. His company has seen growth through partnerships with schools and government contracts, yet Scott faces pressure to make the right decisions while scaling the business. During an Entrepreneur Therapy session, Dr. Drew and Kim Perell encourage Scott to trust his instincts and embrace the entrepreneurial journey, emphasizing that pivoting is common in business success.
"I can't do this anymore. That was just a light bulb," he says, recalling the moment that inspired him to change his rap lyrics.
"99% of all the most successful entrepreneurs I've ever met have pivoted at least once," Perell tells Scott, reaffirming that change is part of entrepreneurship.
