Emily Holehouse, a postpartum doula, has shared a unique one-ingredient recipe using cold leftover oatmeal that has sparked a viral debate. While she claims that her four children love the gelatinous texture of the cooled oats, the recipe has drawn mixed reactions from followers, with some finding it unappealing. Despite the criticism, registered dietitian Natalie Rizzo supports the nutritional aspects of the dish, noting its balance of whole grains, protein, and fiber. This incident showcases the challenges moms face in trying to create appealing snacks for their children.
"I had to block a bunch of people who were being extra mean," Holehouse, 37, tells TODAY.com.
"This is an ugly delicious after-school snack idea," Holehouse tells followers, noting that her four young children will "literally fight over" who gets the biggest serving.
According to Holehouse, who lives in Santa Barbara, California, the key is to let the oats cool in a pot until they reach room temperature.
Several people pointed out that porridge drawers were once common in Scottish households.
