The Michelin Guide recently announced 15 new additions to its California guide, featuring seven restaurants from the Bay Area, including notable establishments in San Francisco such as Four Kings and Prelude. While a listing itself doesn’t guarantee a Michelin star, it is a precursor that could lead to one later. Other highlights include Oakland's Sun Moon Studio and Petaluma's Table Culture Provisions, showcasing a variety of culinary styles and innovative dishes, with the Guide praising the emphasis on quality ingredients and culinary expertise.
While being added to the California guide does not mean a restaurant has earned a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand distinction, it could mean it will earn one later this year.
Four Kings, the buzzy Cantonese spot in SF's Chinatown, is no stranger to accolades: In 2024, it was named Esquire's restaurant of the year.
Prelude is a Southern-inspired fine dining restaurant on the ground floor of the Jay Hotel, serving fried chicken wings stuffed with andouille dirty rice.
Table Culture Provisions, a cozy 10-seat spot in Petaluma, and Enclos, an 1880s Victorian house-turned-fine dining destination in Sonoma, also made the list.
