What doomscrolling does to your brain, and how to stop it
Briefly

Doomscrolling isn't really novel. It is actually just a modern variant of a common psychological response to anxiety called rumination.
The problem with rumination (and doomscrolling by extension) is that it is only a temporary relief for your anxiety. In actuality, you're easing a symptom, not addressing the underlying cause.
