By shuffling elements of local vernacular, including wood cladding, masonry, and double-hung windows, ABA conceived a highly original wood and brick row house with open interior spaces and 10-foot-tall windows.
Standard off-the-shelf 2-inch-thick lumber was creatively used to create facade details and interior moldings, showcasing how basic materials can be artistically utilized.
Unlike typical NYC row house expansions, this project extended forward to enlarge the backyard and interior rooms, emphasizing unique design choices for both space and aesthetics.
