Black Friday Online Sales Up 10%, As In-Store Traffic Falls 8%
Briefly

"Crossing the $10 billion mark is a big ecommerce milestone for Black Friday, for a day that in the past was anchored towards in-store shopping," said Vivek Pandya, lead analyst, Adobe Digital Insights.
"Some of the weeklong Black Friday extended promotions have really led to a little bit of a softer day of traffic than anticipated," said Grant Gustafson, head of retail and analytics at Sensormatic Solutions.
Both Adobe Analytics and Salesforce, which track online sales, showed big jumps in ecommerce spending on Black Friday, indicating a clear shift in consumer behavior towards online shopping.
RetailNext noted an overall year-to-date traffic drop of 3% reflecting longer-term changes in shopping habits as ecommerce takes a leading role, especially around major sales events.
