My first pair of Hunter rain boots actually came from my grandmother, who has an incredibly sharp eye for great shoes (and zero patience for flimsy ones). When I was a teenager, she bought me a pair of tall Hunters in a glossy light silver. They were practical, of course, but also strangely cool-metallic enough to feel a little dramatic, subtle enough to still work with everything in my wardrobe.

Many creatures exhibit same-sex behaviour but gay rams are often sent to slaughter because they can't fulfil their "breeding role." However, Rainbow Wool is now giving them a loving home. On average, one in every 12 sheep is thought to be gay. "We rescue them before that happens, giving them a safe home where they can live and love freely. Each year, their wool is crafted into fashion, with profits donated to the queer charity LSVD+," a spokesperson for the farm said.
Most cashmere comes from Mongolia and China, where cashmere goats are combed once a year for their fine, soft fleece; a single sweater can use cashmere from four or five goats. As the demand has grown, there are now more than 90 million of the goats in China, and around 25 million more in Mongolia. Overgrazing is turning grasslands into desert. The goats also produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
I've loved sustainable fashion since my early teens, always more interested in stealing my dad's band T-shirts than anything remotely designer. Originally, it was a money-driven choice, but when I turned 15 I became acutely aware of the fashion industry's damaging impact on the planet and the unethical labour conditions behind high-street brands. I decided that wasn't something I wanted to be complicit in. Charity shopping became my favourite weekend activity and cheap, mismatched clothes began pouring into my ready-to-explode wardrobe.

Do buy Organic cotton is considered among the environmentally sound fabrics. I am a bit obsessed with working with cotton and how much you can do with it, says Natalie Hasseck, creative director at the brand Rise & Fall. You can make it contemporary and almost architectural, or wispy, soft and gentle.
On Wednesday, the French government launched a new scheme designed to help shoppers learn about the environmental impact of the clothes they are purchasing. Participating clothing stores and brands can now include a small label called an 'écoscore textile', similar to France's Nutri-Score label, which denotes the healthiness of food from A to E, on new pieces of clothing. Stella McCartney is trying to save the world, one feather at a time. Or rather one fevver, a new plant-based product that has the look of a feather without the bird, which made its first ever appearance at the designer's spring/summer show in Paris. It's weird to me that feathers being plucked from a bird are seen as delicate in fashion, said McCartney backstage at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. I'm trying to show that you can still have the theatre of fashion without the animal compromise.
Another notable immigrant community that has enriched London's culture hails from India, with records of immigration dating back to the 1600s and a large influx throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, from the first British Indian MP Dadabhai Naoroji, elected in 1892, to the British-Indian army, a 2.5 million-strong force of volunteers that fought during WW2. Not to mention the chefs and restaurants that have shaped the capital's culinary scene, from the family-run spots on Brick Lane to Mayfair's Punjabi restaurant Ambassador's Clubhouse.
