Nearby kayakers and a boat emblazoned with the Ghostbusters logo came to the aid of three people whose kayaks overturned while they were watching the Giants-Dodgers game Saturday. The Giants lost the game, 13-7. As KRON4 reports, the kayakers fell overboard around 8:30 pm and were quickly rescued by nearby kayakers and a private boat prior to the San Francisco Fire Department's arrival on the scene.
The meeting was preceded with a raucous rally and counter-rally on the City Hall steps, and then the Planning Commission meeting started at 12 noon, and it did not get around to this vote until after 10 pm, because there were more than five hours of public comment. Today, San Franciscans came out to support the Family Zoning Plan and a simple ideathat families and workers should be able to live in San Francisco.

The expansion, which concluded on Aug. 27, includes a dorm with 44 beds, three bathrooms and changing rooms, charging stations, and lock boxes. Work on the building began in February of this year and Mission Local took a first look at the new dorms and amenities a day after the finishing touches were put in place. The inner courtyard of Jazzie's Place is peaceful and warm. Trees shade tables and chairs, and brightly tiled murals decorate the walls.
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It was a solemn morning across the Bay Area as victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were remembered. The San Francisco Fire Department held its remembrance ceremony at the Public Safety Building, marking 24 years since the attack. Names of 343 firefighters and 8 EMS providers from FDNY were read aloud. In all, 2,977 people died during the attacks at the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania during al-Qaeda hijackings.
After a brief hiatus, San Francisco's beloved free outdoor movie series is back! Sundown Cinema, a cherished tradition since 2003, is returning this fall with two special screenings in the city's favorite parks. The series had been paused this year due to financial challenges, leaving many locals disappointed. But thankfully, The Standard couldn't let this tradition disappear. Now, you can grab a blanket and once again enjoy films under the stars.

"We encourage anyone with questions about their eligibility or personal risk factors to speak directly with our pharmacists, who are available to provide guidance and support."
The tech company leased a warehouse in the Mission District last month that will serve as a research and development space to advance its autonomous delivery technology, a June letter sent to San Francisco Zoning Administrator Corey Teague shows. "This project reflects a broader commitment to reinvesting in San Francisco's innovation economy and creating pathways for local employment in emerging technologies," the letter said. The 34,325-square-foot building at 1960 Folsom St. is roughly two miles away from DoorDash's headquarters. About 200 people are expected to be employed at the site.

According to investigators, Wong began offering legal services to some parishioners, "claiming that in addition to being a pastor, he was also an attorney affiliated with several prestigious universities." Over several years, Wong allegedly would tell these parishioners he was "working on their case" while continuing to extract money from them using their shared faith as a way out of awkward conversations about why the work was taking so long.

They're calling it " the coldest summer in San Francisco in decades," which feels about right, but August always drags San Francisco out of hibernation. Outside Lands this year was, as always, a balance between long lines, interesting fashion choices, and the eternal gamble of a porta potty. But the music is always worth Karl's ice-cold mood swings, and this month is for Golden Gate Park. Festivals are funny that way; time slows down, and a great set can carry you through that $15 boba tea.
That vision became the seed of The Cemetary Girlz, the band AlienSPagan founded in 2006. For nearly 20 years, its music has carried the atmosphere of that moment-eerie, melancholic, but strangely comforting. On Sat/13, when The Cemetary Girlz step onto the stage of DNA Lounge, the venue itself will become a mausoleum of sound, part of the inaugural GLŌM FEST: a touring funeral procession of goth, deathrock, post-punk, and darkwave artists from both sides of the Atlantic.
