As reported last week with the Baseball America news, end of January means updated prospect list and just like that we saw MLB Pipeline drop their updated Top 100. Last week we saw JR Ritchie come in at No. 84 overall, while Cam Caminiti rose all the way up to No. 53 for Baseball America. Those two were the lone representatives for the Braves once
Fellow top Blue Jays prospects Arjun Nimmala and Jojo Parker were also listed among the industry's top 100 prospects, ranking 62nd and 66th, respectively. Yesavage sits as the 10th-highest ranked prospect on the list, courtesy of his 60-grade ranking from BA. Pittsburgh's Konnor Griffin is ranked the sport's No. 1 overall top prospect, slotting in ahead of Detroit's Kevin McGonigle and St. Louis' JJ Wetherholt - with that trio comprising BA's top three prospects for 2026 heading into spring training.
The most up-to-date farm system ranking is listed on Fangraphs. They use a metric that tiers MLB prospects and combines the values into a solid ranking. As per this formula, the Nationals are smack-dad in the middle of the MLB as the 16th ranked Farm System. The highest tier is labeled as "70 FV". To simplify, the higher the numeric value, the better the prospect.
While the scouting reports are fully behind a paywall there are still some interesting tidbits for those without an account - including Baseball America's Best Tools update which has quite a few newly drafted Braves prospects. For example Conor Essenburg, the fifth round draft pick out of 2025, claims the Braves best power hitter, while Briggs McKenzie takes home best curveball, and best changeup. Not surprisingly, Alex Lodise took home best infield arm, and best defensive infielder.
Ranking NHL prospects is completely objective, as each scout may see something in a player that another doesn't. There's no exact science to it, but one thing is for sure. Nearly everyone sees something special in NY Islanders prospect Matthew Schaefer. Schaefer, the first overall pick by the NY Islanders in the 2025 NHL Draft, has been ranked the top-drafted prospect in the league by Steven Ellis of Daily Faceoff.
