SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White was the victim of a shooting in San Francisco early Monday morning, sustaining a bullet wound to his ankle. According to a statement from the team, White underwent surgery Monday afternoon. His injuries are not considered to be life- or career-threatening. The Niners said they "will provide further updates when appropriate."

Martinelli is now being criticised by journalists on X for his shocking behaviour towards Bradley, whose injury proved to look pretty serious.
Liverpool fear Alexander Isak may have suffered a significant lower leg injury after the striker was forced off during Saturday's 2-1 Premier League win over Tottenham. The Sweden international came on as a substitute and broke the deadlock for Arne Slot's side, but was caught by Micky van de Ven immediately after striking the ball. Isak attempted to continue but was unable to play on and was eventually withdrawn.

Scunthorpe United player Jonathan Gjoshe "sustained non-life-threatening injuries" when he was slashed across the bicep, the club told the BBC. Anthony Williams, 32, of no fixed abode, has been charged over the incident. Matt Ellis, from the Iron Bru podcast, said they set up the fundraiser to help the player while he recovers from his injuries. It was "absolutely horrendous", Mr Ellis said. He praised both Scunthorpe Utd fans and the wider football community for supporting the appeal.
The New York Mets announced Wednesday that star shortstop Francisco Lindor underwent an elbow debridement procedure on his right arm, but is expected to be ready for full baseball activities come spring training. Debridement surgery removes painful or damaged areas of a tendon, and it was deemed a minor procedure to clean up Lindor's nagging elbow. Lindor had surgery to remove bone spurs from that same elbow in 2023, but it has done little to keep him off the field.

Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov went down with an apparent injury to his right leg during a practice skate on Thursday, joining a growing list of players who are unavailable for the team right now. After an awkward collision with teammate Niko Mikkola sent Barkov down to the ice, he struggled to get up and was ultimately helped off the rink without putting any weight on his right leg. Barkov is currently undergoing evaluation to determine how serious the injury is.
