Three people are in hospital and one person is still unaccounted for after an Oshawa house fire early Monday morning, Oshawa Fire Services says. Speaking at the site of the fire, Jim Lee, Platoon Chief for Oshawa Fire, said crews were called to the home at 3:47 a.m. and arrived to heavy smoke inside. Durham Regional Police said in an emailed statement that the injuries of the three victims that are accounted for are unknown, but non-life threatening.

Durham Regional Police are investigating after a dog was found dead in a suitcase in Oshawa Friday evening. Officers responded to an animal abuse call around Gibb Street and Grenfall Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Durham police said in a news release. Police said a passerby made the call after finding a small dog dead inside a suitcase. Investigators are looking to speak with a suspicious man seen in the area around 3 p.m. carrying a suitcase.

A 31-year-old parent is facing two charges after allegedly driving dangerously through the property of their child's school in Oshawa Friday, Durham police say. At 3:40 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of a vehicle driving dangerously through the parking lot and sports field at G.L. Roberts Collegiate Vocational Institute, Durham police said in a news release Tuesday. The vehicle was also seen driving dangerously toward students in the area, before the driver fled along a nearby waterfront trail, police said.

The victim, a Muslim woman, had her hijab ripped off and was kicked repeatedly during the attack. Police say they are looking for three girls between the ages of 11 to 15 and two boys whose ages are unknown.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers responded to a call about an assault near Steeplechase Street and Windfields Farm Drive E., according to a police release Monday.
