Durham Regional Police are investigating after a dog was found dead in a suitcase in Oshawa Friday evening. Officers responded to an animal abuse call around Gibb Street and Grenfall Street around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Durham police said in a news release. Police said a passerby made the call after finding a small dog dead inside a suitcase. Investigators are looking to speak with a suspicious man seen in the area around 3 p.m. carrying a suitcase.

A man is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Ajax on Friday night, Durham Regional Police say. The fatal collision happened on Taunton Road E. near the intersection with Warner Drive. Police were called to the area for a pedestrian collision shortly before 7 p.m. When officers arrived, they found an injured man and a vehicle that had sustained damage, according to Acting Duty Insp. Durham Regional Police said officers responded to a call about "unknown trouble" near Farrow Avenue and Highway 2 just after 9 a.m. A woman was located suffering from obvious signs of trauma and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A small plane has crashed in Lake Scugog, roughly 93 kilometres northeast of Toronto, police say. Durham Regional Police say the crash happened at around 12:25 p.m. Friday.
