The Rangers designated right-hander Alexis Díaz for assignment due to poor performance and command issues, replacing him with veteran lefty Jalen Beeks.
Kittredge, 36 later this month, spent the bulk of the 2025 season with Baltimore after signing a one-year, $10MM contract in free agency. The O's flipped him to the Cubs in July, netting teenage shortstop Wilfri De La Cruz in that deadline swap. Chicago then traded Kittredge back to Baltimore following the season, before the decision on his 2026 club option was due.
The Guardians have placed veteran first baseman Carlos Santana on outright waivers, Ken Rosenthal and Zack Meisel of The Athletic report. The 39-year-old switch-hitter is playing on a one-year, $12MM contract and still has about $2.13MM of that sum yet to be paid out. Any team that claims Santana would need to take on the entirety of that remaining sum.
This move automatically puts Fraley on the Braves' 40-man roster, and once he reports to the team, Atlanta can add him to the active 26-man roster, though a corresponding move would need to be made to make room. Fraley also becomes a piece that could help the Braves in 2026, as he still has one more year of arbitration before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
The New York Yankees made key roster moves before facing the Cleveland Guardians, notably welcoming back Jazz Chisholm Jr. and placing Luke Weaver on the injured list.
