Atlanta enters Tuesday with a 56-69 record, fourth in the NL East and 16 games behind the Phillies. General manager Alex Anthopoulos continued roster changes, claiming outfielder Jake Fraley off waivers after he was designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds. The claim places Fraley on the Braves' 40-man roster and allows Atlanta to add him to the active 26-man roster once a corresponding move is made. Fraley has one more arbitration year before free agency. He has a .232/.332/.387 slash line with a .719 OPS in 67 games, and could provide bench depth given Michael Harris's struggles and Eli White's limited production.
This move automatically puts Fraley on the Braves' 40-man roster, and once he reports to the team, Atlanta can add him to the active 26-man roster, though a corresponding move would need to be made to make room. Fraley also becomes a piece that could help the Braves in 2026, as he still has one more year of arbitration before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2027.
Fraley has put together a decent 2025 season so far, appearing in 67 games, accumulating 168 at-bats, 39 hits, 29 runs scored, six home runs, 23 RBIs and four stolen bases. He also has a .232/.332/.387 slash line with a .719 OPS. Right field and left field are locked up with Ronald Acuna Jr. (.974 OPS in 213 at-bats) and Jurickson Profar (.826 OPS in 180 at-bats), but center fielder Michael Harris has struggled.
