Canori, the company's president, will retain that title and add the role of CEO for its market-rate and mixed-income division. Silverberg, who leads affordable housing development in Related California's Northern California and Northwest divisions as its CEO, will become president and CEO of the firm's entire affordable division.
Erik Hayden, a Bay Area real estate executive who is one of the busiest developers in downtown San Jose, recently opened a new 176-room Marriott TownePlace Suites hotel on West San Carlos Street, and landed $112.5 million in construction financing for a nearby 278-unit apartment complex known as Aquino that will have an overall project cost of $135 million.
Detroit-based Bedrock development group has announced the completion of the first phase of its Hudson's Detroit mixed-use project in the city center. The project was first unveiled in 2017, when the company presented plans for a 1.2-million-square-foot development designed by SHoP Architects to be built on one of downtown Detroit's long-abandoned sites, formerly occupied by the J.L. Hudson's Department Store.
Called the Boardwalk at Bricktown, the complex was designed by AO and developed by Matteson Capital. In January, the organizations submitted a request to the Oklahoma City Council to build a 1,907-foot-tall tower, after previously being given the green light to build the structure at 1,750 feet. The approved modification means the complex will be 131 feet taller than One World Trade Center and also claim the record for the sixth tallest building in the world.
For the first time in nearly half a century, the city of Detroit has a major new addition to its skyline. Hudson's is a $1.4 billion ground-up downtown development of two buildings covering more than 1.5 million square feet, including residential, office, hotel, retail and event space. It's a large-scale argument that for all of the city's troubles-from its precipitous population decline to its high poverty levels to its rock bottom 2013 municipal bankruptcy-the city has brighter days ahead.
Brooklyn's office market is carving out its own identity as companies and workers move away from Manhattan's pricier spaces, according to new data from JLL. Average asking rents in Brooklyn dropped 5.1% over the past year, now at $53.33 per square foot. But the report shows a sharp divide between high-end and mid-tier offices. Class A buildings, the newest spaces with modern amenities, are facing vacancies close to 25%.
Tolhuiskade is a residential building located along the Tolhuiskanaal, one of the three main canals of Buiksloterham, an industrial wharf and harbor area in Amsterdam North that is transforming into a mixed-use residential and working environment. The masterplan builds on the original structure of the area, with its wide variety of building types. It brings together self-build projects, social housing, and live-work units of various scales to create a new piece of the city.
Covering nearly three acres, the surf park has a 2.67-acre Wavegarden Cove lagoon-the first of its kind in North America-that can generate up to 1,000 waves per hour. Surfers can ride more than 25 different wave types, from gentle one-foot swells to seven-foot waves. Each session lasts just under an hour, and participants can receive video highlights of their rides through the park's built-in media tools, including Flowstate.
Sunnyvale has found the blueprint for creating a prosperous downtown. Officials have figured out how to balance retail, housing and offices in the city's core, even with an aggressive plan to build out nearly 1 million square feet of new office space in downtown. Sunnyvale is confident it will attract employers with its live, work and play downtown formula. District 2 Councilmember Alysa Cisneros, who represents downtown, said she heard concerns about the office space while it was being built,
Project developer Jay Paul Co. and broker Newmark, a commercial real estate firm, believe Cityview is one of downtown San Jose's best locations. There is nothing else like Cityview in downtown San Jose, said Phil Mahoney, a Newmark executive vice chairman. This is an entirely new, mixed-use project on 11 acres at the center of downtown. Real estate executives are hopeful because project developer Jay Paul Co. is bolstered by a long track record of success in the Bay Area.
