Colts quarterback Daniel Jones is battling a fibula injury but insists he will be ready for Sunday's key AFC South matchup with the Houston Texans. This comes amid a report from NFL Network that Jones is dealing with a fracture but plans to play through it. The Colts would not confirm or deny the report but a team source told ESPN that Jones will be listed as a full participant on Thursday's injury report after being listed as "limited" on Wednesday.
In addition to Santiago Gimenez, Zachary Athekame will also miss out on the big derby between AC Milan and Inter, as confirmed by Massimiliano Allegri earlier today. Injuries have been a hot topic for Milan this season, having been forced to sideline some of their stars for multiple weeks. Now, however, the situation is looking a lot better as Christian Pulisic has regained full fitness, while Adrien Rabiot returned to training this week.
Ohio State wide receivers Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith are not expected to play against Rutgers on Saturday due to lower-body injuries, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel. Tate will miss his third straight game. Smith played in last week's win over UCLA but missed the second half after being seen limping before halftime. Both are considered day-to-day, sources said, ahead of a potential return next week against rival Michigan.
The Toronto Maple Leafs finally have some good news on the injury front, as forward Scott Laughton returns to the lineup after missing six games with an upper-body injury sustained against the Boston Bruins on November 8. It's a much-needed boost for a lineup still juggling key absences and looking to build momentum after a gutsy 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night.
They have two very winnable games this weekend, though with a scheduling glitch, as they are in Columbus tonight and then face Detroit at home. Columbus is better than their record, having been done in by subpar goaltending from both Elvis Merzlinkins and Jet Greaves, tonight's starter. But this is a team that can score, so if the Rangers are sloppy again it may bite them.
Denver Nuggets forward Christian Braun will be re-evaluated in six weeks with a left ankle sprain he suffered in Wednesday night's win over the LA Clippers, the team announced Friday. Braun was injured in the first quarter after Clippers guard James Harden stepped on his right foot, causing Braun to land awkwardly on his left foot. Braun returned to the game in the second quarter but was clearly hobbled and did not return in the second half.
CINCINNATI -- The Bengals will be without All-Pro edge rusher Trey Hendrickson for a second straight week. Hendrickson will miss Sunday's AFC North showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers, coach Zac Taylor said on Friday. Hendrickson did not practice all week after dealing with a hip and pelvis injury. It's unclear when Hendrickson will be able to return to practice, Taylor said. The coach also didn't specify whether the injury, which has shifted in diagnosis over the last month, is a reaggravation.
That won't bring back Nick Bosa, Fred Warner or Mykel Williams. Nor does it appear to be getting Brandon Aiyuk that much closer to practicing. But quarterback Brock Purdy (turf toe) is getting closer to practicing enough to merit a start. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall Jr. (knee) may restart practice after missing the last six games. Defensive tackle Alfred Collins (hip) may also practice and be available by the time they visit the Arizona Cardinals (3-6) Sunday.
