Machado spent the majority of that time in the minors. He played nearly 1300 minor league games, more than half of which came at the Triple-A level. The Venezuelan-born infielder had a four-year MLB run with the Tigers between 2015-18. The Cubs have claimed right-hander Aaron Civale off waivers from the White Sox, according to a team announcement. Left-hander Tom Cosgrove was designated for assignment to make room for Civale on the 40-man roster. In addition the White Sox announced that they've selected the contract of right-hander Bryse Wilson to replace Civale on the club's active and 40-man rosters. More to come.

Jameson Taillon threw 47 pitches during a bullpen session, aiming to return from a right calf strain after being placed on the injured list on July 4. Before his injury, he posted a 4.44 ERA and 1.11 WHIP across 95.1 innings with 10 quality starts.
